SAP was founded in 1972 in Mannheim by five former IBM engineers (Dietmar Hopp, Hans-Werner Hector, Hasso Plattner, Claus E. Tschira, and Claus Wellenreuther). The company's best known product is SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). Headquartered in Walldorf Germany, SAP is the largest European software company and the largest enterprise software company in the world.
